This is a Hebrew song which means "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord". It was taught by Pastor Stephen Tang from FGA, Kuala Lumpur who accompanied Pastor Peter Tshukahira when he gave a seminar here in Kuching.

It is base on Matt 23:39 "For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say Blessed is he who come in the name of the Lord."

Navigating Through Crisis

On 7th Aug and 8th Aug 2011, Pastor Peter Tsukahira from Israel preached on the above subject at Trinity Methodist Church, Kuching. The sessions were organized by the Full Gospel Businessmen International Fellowship, Kuching chapter. This is the third times Pastor Peter preached here.

We see and hear about crisis everywhere around the world. Even as the seminar was underway we read news of the senseless riots and killing in the U.K. What has gone wrong? Nearer to our home, the nation of Malaysia is also experiencing unprecedented changes in political, social and religious realms. We are on a cross-road. The 13th general election is looming near, it will be a decisive election to determine the future of Malaysia.

Pastor Peter is aware of this delicate situation in Malaysia and his preaching was to help Malaysian Christians in navigating through crisis in our country. Just last weekend the Islamic authority of the state of Selangor raided a thanksgiving dinner of a NGO at Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DMUC)in Kuala Lumpur. This has upset the Christian communities in our country. It seem prophetic that Pastor Peter is scheduled to speak at DMUC this coming Sunday and the subject of "Navigating through crisis" is certainly most appropriate. He preaching appointment was made several months ago. Praise God!

Pastor Peter spoke about how as Christians we should navigate these minefields. He gave a lot of examples from the Bible of how various people navigated during crisis. However, he said two important principles we should adhere to:

1) It is about the kingdom of God, we must never move from this position. We do things for the kingdom of God.

2) Jesus the bridegroom is coming for His bride. Expect great changes to take place.

Pastor Peter has written a book called "God's Tsunami" published in 2003 before the tsunami hit Indonesia and other countries in 2004. Here he is referring to the spiritual tsunami we are facing. He said Malaysia is at the edge of the tsunami and it is about to crash at any time. We are to be prepared for the coming revival in our country.

Remembering John Stott

The funeral of John Stott was conducted at All Souls Lingham Place, London. It was an unusual funeral for an extra ordinary Servant of God who has just been called home because his life was celebrated with joy and laughter instead of tears of grief. Of course there was sadness in his passing, yet there was joy untold for Uncle John too because he has lived a Christ-like life.

Many of his friends paid tributes to him at the funeral. The greatest tribute came from Dr.Chris Wright,International Director of Langham Place.

"Wright spoke admiringly of Stott’s legacy and the example he had set for Christians the world over, contrasting his integrity with the “too many” Christian leaders who fall short of the mark by preaching prosperity or failing to lay themselves at the foot of the cross as Stott had done throughout his life.

He praised his friend and mentor for his “anger” against injustice, the way in which he honoured and respected women, his love of children, his rejection of wealth, and his delight in God’s creation.

“John Stott modeled that obedience of faith,” he said"

Famine In Somalia

The recent debt crisis in US and many other news worldwide seem to drown out the sad news of a famine in Somalia. Somalia seem so far away from us but than is it? Let us spare prayers and thoughts of people of Somalia who are suffering that not many people have experienced in other countries. We in Malaysia have plenty, although we have our problems. But compare to Somalia these problems are small. Just this Sunday a Brother was sharing how we can help people in Somalia because we are so far away from them. As I was reading a Malaysian Christian site, The Micah Mandate there are Christian organizations that are helping to send aids there.

Chrislam Movement in US

The term "Chrislam" refers to the teachings of Christianity combined with Islamic teachings. There are some churches in the US that designed their sermon with ecumenical reconciliation between Christianity and Islam. It seem like this movement gained momentum when former President George W. Bush commented that Jew, Christian and Muslim worship the same God. Later on, prominent pastors Rick Warren of Saddle Back and Robert Schuller of Crystal Palace sharing about this issue in two different conferences. These two pastors were accused of compromising their stand as Christian.

In other reports, Christians commentators have called this movement anti-Christ because some churches have compromised their Christian stands by accepting Islamic teaching in their churches. If this is truth, it is dangerous. It is clear that Jesus is the only way, and there should not be any compromise here.

NECF 40-Day Prayer

Yesterday, 2nd Aug 2011 National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF)launched the 40-Day Prayer nationwide.

Last evening, NECF together with Kuching Minister Fellowship launched this prayer at Trinity Methodist Church (TMC) in Kuching. The main theme of this year's prayer is "Agents of Change" since as a country we are facing unprecedented changes in all spheres of live.

The spoke person of NECF, Brother Andy Chee advised that there are 4 broad areas of concern :

1. Church as agent of change - church to get involved in all changes.

2. Vocational school project - to cater to those drop outs who have no where to go

3. 13th General Election in Malaysia - pray that righteous leaders be elected.

4. 40-Day Fast and pray - to start on 7th Aug to 15th September 2011. Prayer points detailed in NECF guide.

There are 7 pillars that NECF wish all Christians to focus on in their prayers "

1. Church

2. Government

3. Education

4. Judiciary

5. Market Place

6. Media/arts

7. Family

The prayer meeting last night was well attended with worshipers worshiping fervent during the praise and worship sessions.

Basic Christianity - John Stott

Basic Christianity was written more than 50 years ago and it is still relevant today.

Uncle John as John Stott was popularly known was called to the Lord on 27th July 2011.
