On Sunday 17th Aug 2014 the Taiwanese Gospel singer Donna Chiu Hai Zheng was at FBC in Kuching sharing her testimony and Gospel to our church including our guests.
She was a former popular singer in Taiwan in the 80's. Another famous Taiwanese singer Liu Wen Zheng discovered her. Donna was a keen sport woman and her dream was to participate in the Olympic. However, she also love singing and a sport journalist introduced her to Liu Wen Zheng who signed her up as his company very first recoding artist. She was sent to a modeling school for training but on the first day, the trainer though she was a delivery woman because of her dark skin and athlete look.
Her father objected to her singing career. One day, he got lung cancer and Donna had to drive him for radio therapy. She asked him why he did not like to watch her in concert or her TV shows. Her father said he did not want to see her make any mistake. Her dad wanted her to be married as all her siblings had already married. She proposed to her long time boy friend which just took just 30 seconds to complete! While walking Donna at the wedding hall, Donna realized each step he took with her into her marriage, she was losing her father because he had only 3 to 6 months to live due to the cancer. Her heart was very painful and she regretted that she did not spend time with her father.
One night she was attending an award function, and her father died without seeing her for the last time. After knowing this news she cried non stop at the award venue as well as in the street. She later decided to leave the entertainment world to raise a family. She gave birth to a boy, his name is Philip. After his birth Donna put on weight and people criticized her for being fat. She was furious.
Around 2009 she and her son was holidaying in America, and Father's Day was around the corner. Donna called her husband who told him he had gone to the church. Donna almost failed from her chair because his father was the Managing Director of a temple! How can he attend a church service? Her husband explained he was touched by a young man of about 22 years old hugging his father of 70s and they told each other "I love you". It was not the Chinese culture to be so open about love. But her husband wanted this kind of relation with their son. he promised to bring Donna to the church.
Two days after their return to Taiwan they attended the church service. Donna criticized in her heart of the non professional singing and music playing. She decided to seat by the side of the church although she was given the front seat. She did not want people to recognize her as a former famous singer. When the hymn was sang, she began to weep and felt a big load taken slowly from her shoulders, and she felt lighter each moment passed. The pastor saw her weeping and asked her whether she was ready to accept Jesus as her Savior. She looked at her husband who nodded in agreement. All three of them were led through the sinner's prayer. One month later they were baptised. That was in 2010.
Donna and her family serve in the worship ministry. The pastor suggested she cut a Gospel album and perform Gospel songs to evangelize. She hesitated because of bad experiences. She prayed and bargained with God that if she could reduce 20 KG of weight she will cut an album and perform, but there was no answer from God. She reasoned with God, how about 10 KGs? Still no answer. How about 5 KGs? Still no answer. In her prayers Gd told her no matter how she look like God loves her. She committed herself to recording a Gospel album, and sharing the Gospel all over the places. She has shared the Gospel in Italy, USA, Singapore, Malaysia and of course Taiwan.
In FBC she sang a few Mandarin Gospel songs. Her son performed a song too.
At the end of her sharing she made an altar call and 6 people came to the Lord. Hallelujah! Praise and thank God!

Peter Truong Healing Services
Pastor Peter Truong and his wife Ruth had been ministering to our church since middle of this week. Pastor Peter is from Brisbane, Australia. He is Vietnaness Chinese. His wife is from Vietnam. They are married for one year.
Pastor Peter had visited our church two years ago. During that visit he also ministered to Calvary Family Church (CFC) and a paralysed sister was prayed by him. Over these two years, this sister is recoverying by God's grace. She used to lay flat on bed, now she is able to sit on the wheelchair. Amazingly during her paralysis she gave birth to a healthy baby girl ! Doctor advised her to abort, she had none of that and praise God she has a beautiful child. Both her legs used to be paralysed, but now one of them is moving! Hallelujah! Praise God! While praying for her at church this morning, Pastor Peter get the congregation to stretch our hands toward her while he prayed, he prayed and said he expect her complete healing soon.
Pastor Peter encouraged our congreagtion to pray for those who are infirmed. Those needed healings are prayed over by our members, as he also prayed for everyone who needed healing. The ordinary way that he conducted the healing service is amazing. We realized that we as part of the body of Christ are empowered to heal in the name of Jesus.
Another sister of our church has been healed of deafness on her right ear. Sometime ago she went for a brain surgery and that had destroyed her hearing, but Pastor Peter prayed for her on Thursday night and she is healed! Hallelujah! Praise God!
A grandfather testified that his grandson has also been healed of stomach problem. His grandson had been to hospital three times, yet his condition persisted, he could not drink and eat and was weak. On Wednesday, the Holy Spirit prompted his grandfather to attend Pastor Peter's healing service and when Pastor Peter sensed that he needed to pray for someone with stomach ailment, this grandfather brought his grandson to be prayed by Pastor Peter. This morning, the grandfather testified that after the prayer that evening, the grandson took a banana where previously he refused to eat because of the pain. The following day he had chicken rice and pizza! He is completely healed! Praise God for His mercy and healing!
There were many more healings and the congregation could feel the presence of God in our church this morning. Thank God for bringing Pastor Peter and his wife Ruth to minister to us.

God's Plan for Human Sexuality
Rev Carter is speaking on a very important and pressing issue of human sexuality especially the kind that is not according to Scriptures. He said in the West everything is seen from a secular view point, like sexual orientations. The West claimed that human has the right to chose their own sexual orientation and no one is to judge these people. He said the Western reality is like plastercine, they can creat their own reality. Therefore this secular views and pratises are at odd with Christianity. How are we as Christians are to response to these threats? How are we to influence the public to subscribed to the truths as prescribed in the Bible? Can people of the same gender get married? What does the Bible says about marriage? There are many more questions regarding sexuality will be answered by Rev Carter in his four sessions talk from 28th Oct to 31st Oct 2013 at FBC, Jalan Tapang, Kuching.
Those who are interested to learn more, you are welcome to attend his sessions tonight 30th Oct and the last session 31st Oct 2013.

Kelvin Soh Evangelistic Outreach at FBC, Kuching
Kelvin Soh and his wife Suzanne had a powerful testimony. Both came from different world, Kelvin a former drug addict and prisoner where as Suzanne formerly an air stewardess. By God's grace they became husband and wife. Kelvin went in and out of prison for about 24 years, so a large part of his life was spent in prison.
He testified that one day after he was canned four strokes, he could not sit because of the pain at his back, he asked for a comic to read. Instead, the prison guard gave him a Mandarin Bible, and there was a book mark on Hebrew 12:5 and he read "My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,...After reading this verse he realised God is calling him to return home. After coming to the Lord he started writing Gospel songs in Hokkien and Mandarin. He had no prior knowledge of music, and even now he could not read music. His talent is a gift of God.

He had no prior knowledge of music, and even now he could not read music. His talent is a gift of God.
His wife's testimony was amazing too. She had came to the Lord earlier and she was trying to evangelise to her parents although a habitual gambler, but her parents said if you get married than they will accept the Lord. So Suzanne told her friend and sister, they prayed about her marriage. One evening she attended Kelvin Soh's singing outreach, and she tried to hand him a CD to encourage him as he was just starting out. However, she felt and could see that Kelvin was interested in her, she shared that there was "electricity" in his look. She spoke to the Lord and said this could not be the man she will marry because both came from very different back ground. However, this meeting was confirmed by her youner sister who have been praying for her. To cut the story short, both became husband and wife. Now they travel together to evangelise in many countries. Both of them shared that it was indeed the grace of God that they can be together serving Him. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!.
At the end of the meeting Kelvin made an altar call, and 14 people accepted the Lord! Praise God and thank our God!

Joanne Ng Evangelistic Outreach
http://www.tabernaclemusic.net/index.cfm?menuid=279&parentid=17
On 13th Oct 2013 our church had the previlege to host Gospel singer/song writer for an evangelistic outreach to the people in Kuching. It was organized by our Mandarin church for the purpose of evangelising to the losts.
The testimony of Sis Joanne was very powerful as she came from a Chinese family back ground that was familiar to many of us. Her mother was a temple medium and she was brought up staying at the temple. Her mother would go into trance in worship to her gods, many times multilating herself in the act of seeking favours on behalf of devotees. Joanne often cried because she did not like what her mother was doing. She felt that her mother had a hard life serving her gods. While she was about 11 her friends introduced her to Jesus. She learnt from her friends and eventually at 13 years old she accepted the Lord! After that she felt much peace and she could sleep well. Her mother despiced her for accepting a "foreign God". That was how many Chinese non believers understood about God. Through Joanne's prayers and worship her mother slowly changed and accepted her as a Christian. One day she took her mother to church, and her mother felt peace and wanted to become a Christian. When the pastor gave an altar call, she went forward and accepted Jesus as her Savior. However, after she got home she still worship her gods. Joanne rebuked her for doing so, but her mother said she was afraid that her gods will come after her that was why she worshipped them. Eventually, with prayers and help of Joanne's pastor all idols were removed from her house. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and felt much peace. Her dad only came to the Lord in his old age of about 73 years old. At that time he was suffering from cancer and had to take morphine prescribed by the doctor. Before he came to the Lord, God showed him the beauty of heaven, with many beautiful flowers, nice buildings, and pleasant environment. He yold Joanne he was ready to be a Christian and requested for a priest to baptise him. He wanted a priest and not a pastor, and that was arranged. He was baptised accordingly. That night he had the most restful sleep, and he slept until 10 am the next day which he never did before! Praise God!
We thank God for such an inspiring testimony. Sis Joanne made her session interesting because as she shared and she interceded with her Gospel songs in Hokkien and Mandarin. She wrote all her Hokkien songs. The amazing fact is that she could not read or write Mandarin yet she could write Mandarin Gospel songs. This is also a testimony of a great God we worship!
At the end of the meeting, Sis Joanne made an altar call as well as praying for those in need. Many people came forward and the most encouarging thing was that five people accepted the Lord that evening. Praise and thank God! Hallelujah! All glory to God!

Launching NECF 40-Day Fast and Pray
http://www.necf.org.my/
On 15th July 2013, NECF launched the 40-day fast and pray for Kuching at FBC, Kuching. This year's theme is "Thy Kingdom Come". We are going to fast and pray for this nation, praying God will intercede to put wrongs into rights.
Many people may have felt dispointed with the recently concluded general election but a speaker reminded the audience that indeed God has answered our prayers. His answers may not be like what we wanted but He did delivered us from violence and blessed our country with peace after the elections. Beside, many more citizens are much aware of their rights as citizens and as a people we can all make changes for good. One other important result was that Chrsitians from all denominations united in One body to pray for our country. This outcome was unprecedented.
The fast and pray will start from 7th August 2013 to 15th September 2013.
A booklet for this year 40-day fast and pray containing the topics to be prayed is available from NECF. Many local churches have also ordered their copies. In case you need it please refer to NECF website in the above link.
Let us continue to fast and pray for this nation of ours.

Pilgrimage to Holy Land 6 - Baptism of Bro. Austin Neo, FBC
Our Bro. Austin Neo was baptized in river Jordan, Israel during our pilgrimage to Israel. It was a very significant event for him and his wife as they have been waiting for this very moment for a while. As a church we are happy for him and we praise God for his baptism in river Jordan, Israel.
A few weeks ago Bro. Austin shared in church his testimony and prayers about his baptism. Bro.Austin shared that he was afraid of the cold, so since arriving in Israel on 17 th April 2013 he had been praying for warm weather. When we were in Israel, the day temperature range from 17 degree centigrade to about 19 degrees centigrade. To many it may not be cold but to Austin it was cold beside he has to be submerged in the river during baptism. Each morning when he awake he prayed for warm weather and he will look out of the hotel window to check on the weather outside. He was supposed to be scheduled for baptism as soon as we reached Israel, but the tour guide said he has to postpone it as he had other arrangements. Austin was relieved when he heard that because at that time the weather was cold. He continued to pray for warm weather everyday. Finally his time to be baptized came a few days after we arrived in Israel. As the bus approached the river Jordan we noted the hot weather. At that time we did not know Austin's reservation about the cold weather. When we arrived by the river Jordan, the weather was hot, it was about 32 degree centigrade. But Austin shared that although he noted the sunny weather he did not know whether it was cold in the river. He went to the shower in the shower room, and found that the water was hot because of the heat on the water pipes. He thought to himself, "Well, the water is warm here wonder whether it is the same in the river". He got ready and stepped into the water and felt that the river water was not cold. From then one he had full confidant and went through the baptism ceremony without any issue. Praise God that He had answered Austin's prayers! Hallelujah! Praise God!
Here is a short video of Austin baptism.

Christmas Eve Celebration
On 24th Dec 2012 our Church FBC celebrated the first Christmas at our new building. Of the many Christmas celebrations, this was the grandest of them all. Our Iban congregation has been reaching out to the Ibans in Sebuyau and about 100 of these folks came all the way from Sebuyau to celebrate with us. Including other invited guests and members there must be close to 1000 people attending the Christmas celebration. Our Ibans folks also helped in the preparation of the foods. There were plenty of foods on that evening, and the foods were enough for so many people. Beside foods, the English, Mandarin and Iban congregations performed dances, and songs to entertain our guests. One of the high light of the evening was the "uncles" of our church performing the Gangnam Style dance. It was hugely popular and entertaining.
Praise God for a successful event!

Parenting Course Train the Facilitators
On 26th Oct 2012, our Church organized a Parenting Train the Facilitators course. The main organizers were Bro.Howe Tung and Sis.Chuei Lian assisted by a team of facilitators from our Church. The lead trainers were Bro. CT Lau and his wife Sis.Dr.Gene from Alpha Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The main objective was to train more facilitators from other churches so that they can conduct The Parenting Course (TPC) in their church. This course is not only meant for Christians but non Christians as well because all of us face issues with our children. TPC course proper has two parts, one for parents of children 0-10 years and another from 10-18 years old.
This train the facilitators session was very well attended by various participants from the various denominations like Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Pentecostal, and also independant churches. All together there were 18 churches attending. The biggest number of participants came from Catholic church. It was indeed the work of God that so many denominations came together as One body in Christ to be trained as facilitators of The Parenting Course. This course is base on Christians principles and when non Christians attend we are able to impart Christians principles to them and we pray for them to join God's kingdom in due course.
A total of 84 participants attended comprised of members from 18 churches in Kuching.
All glory to God for the success of this course.

Sunday Service - 20th Sept 2009

This was the first service after the shock that we all felt after Pastor's annoucement last Sunday. It was heartening to see many of our members returning despite their anguish and pain over the situation of our Church. Deep in my heart, I believe those who return look towards our One and Only God, the Lord Almighty as the ultimate and not any human. Because He is the reason for our being, of our worship of our praises and we glorify Him alone. With due respect to the Church leaders,it is really about Jesus and no one else. From the atmosphere of the worship, I sensed that healing is beginning. Like Dr.Tiong said, over the ages even theologians cannot agree on certain principles, therefore let us begin to rebuild our Church. Hurts, pains, and disappointments beside, let us arise to rebuild our Church. I believe that all of us want also to extend our welcome to those who chose "the other side"(for lack of words to discribe the situation),with love, compassion and undestanding because we are One in our Lord. In 1 Corinthians 3:3-6 Paul advised the Christians not to follow personalities, but to look towards God as He makes things grow. My prayers are for all of our members of our Church, and pray that we unite our hearts, minds, and deeds to build a stronger Church that glorifies His Name. Amen.

FBC - Current Situation

After the shocker last Sunday, many would have realised the extent of the crisis. Neverthless, things that happened cannot be undone, the best thing to do is to look forward and to work towards rebuilding our Church. We may have been distracted by side issues and the many reasons why things happened, but the bottom line is that as a body of Christ we are to be in One accord. If we are in One accord and we direct our focus on God and not man, things can be worked out. God does not make mistake,we do. When we are right with God, we will be right with man. Let us come and rebuild our Church.
Trust God - by Poet Helen Steiner Rice
Take heart and meet each minute
With faith in God's great love,
Aware that every day of life
is controlled by God above
And never dred tomorrow
or what the future brings
Just pray for strength and courage
and trust God in all things.
